|
The council has a fully fledged engineering that has
engineers whose roles include the following: |
|
- Road repair, maintenance and opening up of new roads, bridges flyovers and water channels.
- Managing drainage of major water channels such as Nakivubo channel; clearing of such drains to avoid flooding in the city.
- Installation, repair and maintenance of street and traffic lights.
- Street parking and traffic control.
- Transport and mechanical services for the council’s fleet.
- Approval for architectural and structural designs for construction projects with in the city as well as prototype architectural plans on sale at the divisions for private developers that cannot afford the high cost of building plans made by private architects and structural engineers.
- Management of parks and open spaces, including the planting of trees and flowers, grass-cutting, landscaping, fencing, watering and manuring of city gardens and plots.
